About the Author


Dr. Ed Neukrug and Kristina Williams-Neukrug, M.S.Ed. have been married for 25 years and both have been in the counseling field since the beginning of their adult working lives.


A licensed professional counselor, licensed psychologist, and board certified human service practitioner, Ed has worked as a school counselor, mental health counselor, private practitioner, and counselor educator. Currently, he is Professor of Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Ed has written 11 counseling-related books and over one hundred articles and chapters in books.  He has published numerous open access websites  and videos on counseling theory and skills.  Known as a dynamic teacher and is active professional, Ed has won a numerous awards for his teaching and professional service including being a Fellow of the American Counseling Association and the President's Award from the National Organization of Human Services.

Kristina has been an elementary school counselor for over 17 years and has been creating counseling resources and counseling-related products for over ten years.  Knowing that children respond best to hands-on activities when talking about their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, Kristina enjoys designing and creating colorful and engaging counseling materials to aid children in self-awareness and problem solving.

Between Ed's books and Kristina's creative counseling-related products, it seemed like a natural marriage to develop their company "Counseling Books, Etc."  Ed grew up in New York City and Kristina is from Virginia Beach, Virginia. They have two children, Hannah, age 24, and Emma, age 19.
